:: Wave Clone 1.03

:: Use PAS-Software like a DirectX Plugin with Wave Clone ::

Wave Clone is a Windows multimedia tool programed by Eugene Muzychenko, allowing you to share Wave (MME) ports among several applications. Because many audio (wave) drivers are single-client, allowing only single application to use each port at same time, you cannot, for example, record from the microphone to two application simultaneously. Wave Clone brings multi-client feature to any audio port in your system, allowing unlimited number of applications to use them at same time.

Sampling rate (44,1 kHz, 96 kHz, 192 kHz) and number of channels are limited only by host port features. Sample size 16 bit, 24 bit, 32 bit.

If more than one applications are sending audio to a port shared (cloned) by the Wave Clone, it will mix all streams together. If more than one applications are receiving audio from shared port, Wave Clone will distribute (copy) the same audio data between all targets.

Wave Clone is useful to, for example, record from the line input to several applications - encoders, level and THD meters, disk recorders etc.

:: See Screenshot below

As you can see, with Wave Clone you can use PAS-Software like a DirectX Plugin. Select in Logic, Cubase VST , Wave Lab or any application one Sound Device as Output and use it in PAS-Software as Input. That's all !!!

:: Using mirror Wave ports (Wave Lab with pro Live 3.8 and Surround Meter)

Host application

Clients applications

--

You can use any mirror port with any application which works with MME (Wave) audio devices. The mirror ports have an asterisk ('*') prefix in their names. Each mirror port is multi-client, allowing unlimited number of applications (clients) to use the port at same time.

In current Wave Clone version, the driver/server communications are implemented using the Windows messages. It means that intensive working with windows at your desktop can cause some clicks and pops in the sound stream.

It is not recommended to use DirectSound ports that are emulated over Wave Clone mirror ports. Such ports have the asterisk in the beginning of their names and word "(emulated)" in the end. Using these ports can cause excessive system loading and side-effects.
